Foreward

Welcome to the growing group of conscientiously resourceful people who love art. We are proud of the advanced engineering and quality construction of the community vehicle we’ve built.

This Online Manual attempts to share and describe the RESIDENT ARTIST VEHICLE 4000 (RAV4000). Please read it thoroughly and study its images equally. Doing so will help you appreciate many years of mostly safe and trouble-free art making. For important information about our missions and this vehicle, read the following pages carefully.

RAV4000 is a mobile artist residency, toolkit, and resource housed in a 2002 Toyota RAV4. The vehicle organization supports place-based and site-specific artist projects which respond to, collaborate with, or require access to ‘āina. Resident artists use the vehicle to conduct their projects, as well as create and install their own modifications, additions, and upgrades to suit their various needs.

From its theoretical conception, RAV4000 has been supported by Ho‘ākea Source, the regranting program of Pu‘uhonua Society in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The RAV4000 garage is graciously hosted by Kamanu Composites in beautiful Kailua, O‘ahu.

All information and specifications in this manual are current at the time of printing. However, with a mindset of infinite potential and continual improvement, we reserve the right to make changes at any time without notice.

Please share this manual freely amongst like-minded fellows... The next artist will need this information also.
